The Pilgrim Mission will now be hosting accompanied Pilgrim Tours along the Camino de Santiago. (summer dates to be announced)
These journeys are designed for those who wish to walk the Camino within a supportive framework, offering companionship, guidance and daily spiritual focus. Craig and Dorothea—who have made their home on the Camino for over 15 years—understand the rhythm, needs and traditions of Pilgrims, and are passionate about nurturing spiritual growth along the way.
This one-week pilgrimage will follow the Camino Sanabrés, travelling from the plains beside the Tera River and gradually ascending into the mountains at the Galician border, finishing in Puebla de Sanabria. Accommodation will be arranged in advance, allowing Pilgrims to walk freely without concern for reservations, enjoying a daily rhythm of walking and contemplation with a knowledgeable guide, and meals shared together in Albergues and local rest houses. Participation is open to people of all faiths, backgrounds and beliefs who wish to journey as part of a Pilgrim community.
The Camino Sanabrés route on this pilgrimage is moderate, with daily walking stages that gradually rise from riverside paths into higher terrain as we approach Galicia. A reasonable level of walking fitness is recommended, as we will spend several hours a day on foot at a steady, reflective pace. This is not an athletic challenge, rather a mindful journey, and there will be opportunities to rest, pause, and walk with the group in a supportive rhythm. With preparation—regular walks beforehand and familiarity with your footwear—most people with general mobility and stamina will find the route both achievable and deeply fulfilling.
(As this is a summer pilgrimage, only light gear is needed.)
• A mochila (rucksack)
• Light sleeping bag
• Quick-dry towel
• A few changes of clothing (washing points available)
• Hat or cap
• Light windbreaker
• Comfortable and durable footwear for walking
• Light shoes or sandals for evenings
• Basic toiletries and personal essentials
• (Additional small items may be added according to personal preference)
The spirit of this journey follows the long-standing tradition of Camino hospitality, so participants will be responsible for their own day-to-day expenses such as accommodation and meals, however bookings will be secured on their behalf to ensure peace of mind. Where additional travel is required—such as taxis, shuttles or transport to and from train stations—these will be arranged beforehand with Pilgrims contributing as needed.
Approximate costs will be communicated on request. For more info, please email: craigdotw@yahoo.co.uk
Donations in recognition of the organisation, guidance and support offered throughout the pilgrimage are appreciated. Our purpose on the Camino is not commercial; we live here in service of the spiritual life and wellbeing of all who walk it.
